LDA — Digital Advisory

Built by operators.

Langford Digital Advisory exists for one reason: boards and investors deserve counsel from people who have run digital commerce at scale — not just studied it.

LDA is a boutique advisory firm focused on digital commerce in consumer and retail. We work with a small number of clients at a time — boards, leadership teams, and investors — on the questions that decide whether a digital business compounds or stalls: growth strategy, channel economics, marketplace models, organisational capability, and resilience.

Our approach reflects how the firm was built. Every engagement is grounded in operating experience — what it actually takes to grow revenue, expand margin, launch new models, and lead through crisis inside large, complex retail businesses.

Digital is a P&L discipline, not a department.

The businesses that win treat online economics with the same rigour as store economics.

Marketplaces are operating models, not bolt-ons.

Curation, returns economics, and brand relationships decide whether third-party revenue creates or destroys value.

Resilience is now a growth capability.

How a business prepares for and responds to disruption — including cyber — is a board-level commercial question.

Stephen Langford, Founder of Langford Digital Advisory

Stephen Langford — Founder

Stephen founded LDA after 25 years leading digital commerce in UK retail, most recently as Director of Online, Omnichannel & Partnerships at M&S.

At M&S he scaled M&S.com from £800m to more than £2bn in revenue, expanding online EBIT margin from 2% to 8%, and built the Brands@M&S marketplace from launch to 200+ brands and £400m of new revenue. In 2025 he led the company's response to one of UK retail's most serious cyber incidents, including the full rebuild of its digital infrastructure. He owned annual marketing budgets in excess of £100m.

Before M&S, Stephen was VP & Co-Managing Director of George@Asda and a formal officer of Walmart Inc., following earlier senior roles at Tesco.

He is a Non-Executive Director of Nobody's Child and serves on the advisory boards of Meta Retail, the Google Retail Executive Board, IMRG, and Etail.
